Best of Radio Website Debut

by

rabLogoSmallOur colleagues over at the Radio Advertising Bureau (RAB) have just launched a nifty new resource website geared towards radio stations, advertising creatives and production houses. It’s called The Best of Radio. Acting as an interactive library of radio creative work, the website is currently stocked up with the works of this year’s Mercury Award Winners. My personal favorite is the  Mr. 80 SPF Wearer spot for Anheuser-Busch, one of the Real Men of Genius series of ads.

There is a delightful array of audio available to hear on demand, but the really sweet part of the project is that it is open to and encouraging of user-submitted content. That means ads, scripts, and other elements of radio creative campaigns from anywhere. In addition, once uploaded, each ad has its own dedicated comment stream just like a blog post, allowing an easy avenue for feedback and commentary by fellows within the industry.

“This new initiative gives the creators of radio advertising a central forum for discussion and recognition as a way to spotlight high quality advertising, as well as open opportunity to share techniques, advice, or praise with colleagues in the industry,” said RAB President/CEO Jeff Haley. “It is designed to bring professionals together from different advertising outlets for a unique mix of ideas and spots.”

As a long standing champion of interactivity and a Internet-based radio evolution, I am quite pleased with this new tool. I cannot wait to see what sort of interesting audio ends up being added to the pool as its user base grows. I’d be willing to bet we’ll see Doug Zanger over there periodically as well.
